RBM Partnership & UNICEF Focussed to End Malaria in Pregnant Mothers & Children In Sub-Saharan Africa

By Roperfreee
This week Roperfree had 2 important virtual /physical events in regards to saving children and pregnant mothers one was organized by RBM partnership to End malaria with the theme of “Speed Up Scale-Up of IPTp” and another by UNICEF-Uganda.
IPTp “The Intermittent Preventative Treatment of Malaria” is very crucial when it is available because it saves pregnant mothers and the unborn children who are extremely vulnerable to malaria infection, and this is the one of few ways to save the most vulnerable groups from malaria deaths and sickness.
To ensure that every eligible pregnant woman and her unborn child is protected against malaria by 2025 the RBM to End Malaria’s Malaria in Pregnancy Working Group launched a renewal appeal to Speed Up Scale-Up of IPTp to sign the petition so that awareness is caused to call out global and national leaders, donors, civil society groups, technical partners and researchers to commit to protect the pregnant women from malaria. It also a call on all stakeholders to advance efforts to save pregnant mothers in Sub Saharan Africa from malaria.
As part of this campaign, a letter will be delivered to decision makers after gathering signatures online. Please help bring momentum to this campaign by signing the letter that can be found here: https://endmalaria.org/speed-up-scale-up-of-iptp
No one must be left behind in the fight against malaria. Zero Malaria starts with all of us! Andrea Lucard, Executive Vice President at Medicines for Malaria Venture, was the moderator of the discussion.
Speakers included:  Odette Cossa, TIPTOP Director of Mozambique  Jenny Njuki, Africa Programme Manager, Kenya, Malaria No More UK  Jimmy Opigo, National Malaria Elimination Manager of Uganda  HE Professor Sheila Tlou, ALMA Ambassador  Dr Perpetua E. Uhomoibhi Director/National Coordinator National Malaria Elimination Programme of Nigeria
Roperfree attended the virtual meeting and already signed the petition because all along this was our vision and that why we started mosquito Repellent Oils to protect the most vulnerable groups such as pregnant mothers and children below age of five years. On different occasion though almost similar goal Roperfree was invited as following email reads: “Thank you for taking interest and applying for cohort 2 of the UNICEF Innovation Fund Challenge.
It is with pleasure that I write to invite you for an Info-session set to happen this Wednesday, 15th December 2021. This event will happen both physically at the Outbox offices on 4th floor Soliz House, and virtually on zoom. The event had hosts from UNICEF Team with outsourced Outbox: moderators and speakers such as; Michelle Nabagerera, Susan Sserumaga, Esther Akwii, Night Stella, Cynthia Kyofuka etc..

Malaria kills more people in Uganda than any other diseases especially children under the age of five and inhibits work & education and there has not been any viable versatile effective vector control to fight malaria by stopping mosquito bites and malaria transmission until our inception in 2017 apart from mosquito bed nets
