Malaria Kills More People in Uganda Than COVID-19

By Ropefree

The Uganda government and the public at large should take malaria very seriously because kills more people than anticipated due the spike of COVID-19 and the number rising of COVID-19 many of them had the underlying diseases of malaria.

Ever since the year started, maximum attention has been given to COVID-19 abandoning the actual number one killer disease which is malaria.

Many have learned to sanitiser & hand wash all the time, masks all over, but have you stopped to make comparison? Uganda has lost almost 98 to COVID-19 the same number we lose every week to malaria.

We are not trying to down play one disease and promote the other but over 45 million of the country’s population is at risk of malaria and COVID-19 while having underlying sickness such as malaria would speed up the chances of succumbing to COVID-19 and verse versa.

According to WHO, Uganda has the second largest reduction of malaria cases between 2017 and 2018 but the country is still one of the largest contributor of malaria deaths.

Malaria leads to poverty because it causes a negative impact on the economy of the country due to decreased productivity, lower school attendance & performance plus reduced foreign investments.

Uganda should not lose the battle against COVID-19 by implementation  of hand sanitiser dispensers to all social buildings such as; house of parliament, churches, mosques, hospitals, health centers, police posts, schools, libraries, hostels, apartments, plazas, shopping malls because this will reduce the trash of empty plastic bottles littering by degrading the environment and  to stop the hawkers who flood the cheap fake hand sanitisers which causes the spread of the coronavirus and the idea of accepting gel sanitisers in school is recipe for disaster because it will compromise the environment.  The best option is the installation of hand sanitiser dispensers which are refilled in case of run out.
