Is Malaria Eradication of 2030 A Myth?

 By Roperfree

As the battle to fight malaria intensifies everyday new intervention tools, ideas and retraining  are needed to fight malaria effectively as to reach the malaria eradication goal of 2030 but according to what I am learning in malaria leadership & eradication distance course from  the Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health-  Harvard university in USA  it leaves me wondering whether  malaria eradication will come to reality though there have been significant reduction in  malaria mortality and morbidity throughout the world.

Many more intervention tools have to be used in combination plus more research and sensitization campaigns are needed so that the dreams of malaria eradication come true.

On the other hand, the high burden of malaria has been reduced throughout the world with mass distribution of mosquito bed nets, Indoor Residual Sprays and effective drugs in collaboration of malaria control programs to fight tooth and nail to combat malaria to zero status.

A country like Uganda which has made tremendous reduction in malaria mortality and morbidity even though malaria is still number one killer disease, and factors which are causing significant challenges are: miss uses of insecticide mosquito bed nets cost of drugs, Resistance in parasites, people unwilling to take drugs, lack of good access to healthcare, lack of diagnostic tools such as RDT’s (Rapid Diagnostic Test) , microscopy, PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) self treatment or medication, counterfeit drugs, poor infrastructure, high cost of communication & internet, people resistant to Indoor Residual Sprays  (IRS) & larvicidal, lack of aggressive community based  malaria sensitization campaigns whereas Roperfree is already doing it.

Further to that, mosquito behavior change and resistant to insecticide is posing major challenge in malaria eradication programs, mosquitoes are changing the time they collect  blood meal from its host, from night time to day time, that is why we are advocating the use of Roperfree mosquito repellents to close the missing gap

Malaria is transmitted by female mosquito called Anopheles, according to Professor Flaminia Catterucia of immunology & infectious diseases at Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health says, "there are some people who do not catch quickly with malaria, those with; G6DP deficiency  leads to increased oxidative stress in red blood cells, this in turn have a negative influence on the malaria parasite so individuals who possess this mutation have some protection against malaria, people carrying the gene for sickle- cell disease are considered to be protected from malaria plus those in malaria endemic countries who have been exposed to malaria for number of times get a little bit of immunity and some becomes carriers (asymptomatic) possessing malaria parasite with no symptoms.

Reducing malaria burden in Africa is causing new interventions tools to be implemented such as; the release of genetically modified mosquito with concept behind of sterile insect technique in order to suppress field population.
The malaria vaccine which was rolled on last month in Malawi with the efficacy rate of 30 percent on babies

The introduction of mosquito repellent oils, such as Roperfree mosquito repellent oils which are saving more lives and putting the malaria cases down according to the information gathered from our ground crews while doing malaria sensitization campaigns & feedback we get from social media platforms.

Roperfree is providing one of the best viable solutions to fight malaria by encouraging the uses of Roperfree mosquito repellents and also the availability of Roperfree Aromatherapy with pure essential oils to fight rheumatism and skin infections
