Why the Demand for Organic Aloe Vera Has Risen in Canada During The Pandemic?

 By Roperfree

The demand for Aloe Vera has increased since the start of the pandemic and they sell by weight in many supermarkets, health and organic stores in Canada.

Aloe Vera is one of the best known herbal medicinal plants and at the beginning of the pandemic, Roperfree started getting more interested in Aloe Vera after noticing how the demand was skyrocketing in many supermarkets around Canada especially at No-Frills supermarket where we do our groceries.

Roperfree initiated in venturing in Aloe Vera business after being introduced & encouraged by one of our director called “Phyllis Nakayiza Kasumba” to start importing Aloe Vera to Canada from Uganda but we lacked the capacity, resources and logistics to embark on such a big business venture though it opened up a new line of business in Aloe Vera while solving the demand for hand sanitizers which were scarce at the beginning of the pandemic.

Roperfree ventured into two types hand sanitizers one Glycerin and another one Aloe Vera moisturizers.

Surprisingly, the Aloe Vera Moisturizers have been on high demand than of Glycerin ones ever since the inception in 2020

In Canada, Aloe Vera leaves are popular because people use them for many reasons such as; making Aloe Vera juice, moisturizers, cleanse & nourish the skin, protect health hair growth & strength, and some people use it as concoction to fight off viral and bacterial diseases such as; COVID-19 as the virus has no specific recommended remedy apart from “Stay Home & Quarantine yourself if you are not feeling well”

The cost of organic leaf is around $8 and one of our directors ordered 4 leaves costing her $36 from Organic foods – Toronto to be extract to Aloe Vera Gel for her hair & skin care. In Uganda Roperfree has expanded its market of selling Aloe Vera Gel by targeting the cosmetic industries because it is lucrative business and we have laid  further future plans strategy to sell organic Aloe Vera in  Canada .

Roperfree has been encouraging many local farmers in Uganda to grow Aloe- Vera due to the global demand and its benefits, Uganda could benefit more from growing Aloe Vera while creating job opportunities and poverty eradication.
