Mosquito/Insect Repellent to be used by British Military to Fight COVID-19

By Roperfree

According to Sky News on Friday April 24, 2020 the British military battling COVID-19 to be issued with mosquito/insect repellents which have almost similar ingredients as Roperfree mosquito repellent such as; eucalyptus citriodora to offer some protection against COVID-19 and the product being offered is lemon eucalyptus oil extract called citriodiol.

Roperfree got this information from proprietors of Connect Uganda radio UK based Internet Radio who were watching Sky television news live and gave us a heads up to find ways whether similar project could be transferred to Uganda to fight COVID-19.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOCGRKzdT0c

According to the sky news, the Military sources told sky news that there was evidence to suggest the product might have a similar effect on the virus sweeping the planet and results from preliminary trials have been positive with suggestion that it was worth distributing to the forces personnel fighting the pandemic https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/24/british-soldiers-to-get-insect-repellant-as-covid-19-protection

Roperfree contacted Dr. Jimmy Opigo Assistant Commissioner of Uganda National Malaria Program who is in charge of distributing mosquito nets to market vendors during COVID-19 lockdown, replied to us that they have been developing a relationship with the forces supported by the USA African command and the use of repellent is being discussed.

Uganda is managing very well COVID-19 with low cases plus no deaths according to the Ministry of Health. If our mosquito repellent is implemented to security personnel engaged to fight COVID-19 as it is being done in Britain that would be great! Furthermore, mosquito repellent will protect security personnel against malaria because most of them stay outside on duty and cannot sleep in the net due to the nature of their job of patrolling.

However, Roperfree understands the repellent will be used alongside existing measures and will not replace hand washing, social distancing and other basic hygiene procedures

Please keep on complying COVID-19 measures by staying home safe plus others in the best interest to fight against the virus in this tough time and wish everyone a nice World Malaria Day celebrated  every April  25th  with year's theme "Zero malaria starts with me".www.connectuganda.com
