Consumer-Driven Trend for Cleaner & Healthier Malaria Preventative Products

Roperfree mosquito repellent product is the safest and the most popular repellent on the market in Uganda by the start of this year 2019, due to its many benefits got from our fact finding mission conducted in the last three months during our malaria sensitization campaigns in and around Kampala.

Most malaria preventative measures on the market cannot function by themselves, some have barriers and limitations for instance scarcity of electricity, water, and fire is detrimental for competitive repellents in Uganda especially; in the rural areas.

Roperfree’s main objective is to save lives using all-natural 100 percent organic repellent with pure essential oil which is highly effective, easy to apply, can be used anytime of the day plus it is versatile & mobility of the product is an added advantage while we are creating jobs through the chain of distribution causing significantly poverty reduction in the country.

Some of the Mosquito Preventative Measures on the Market as Follows:

Mosquito bed nets

Mosquito bed nets can provide an effective barrier against mosquito bites. However, most mosquito nets are often treated with a chemical known as permethrin, which is fatal to the insects but is considered harmless to humans. While this may be a small advantage for some, if you do not like chemicals or have a reaction to them, then Roperfree mosquito repellent could be the best option, we are closing this gap because every life matters!

Mosquito Repellent Cream & Sprays

Most repellent creams have chemical component such as; an active ingredient of N,N-Diethylbenzamide (DEB), a close relative of N,N-Diethyl-3-methylbenzamide (DEET).

DEB can cause “irreversible depression in respiratory frequency,” DEET has its own problems; one study indicated that park rangers who were exposed to high levels of DEET were more likely to experience insomnia and mood swings. As various studies make clear, both DEET and DEB have their share of potential side effects.

Mosquito Repellent Soap

Repellent soaps are made of chemical components such as; Lye which is very caustic chemical capable of causing serious damage as it can burn skin, cause blindness and even cause death when indigested, another chemical component is iron oxide used as soap colorants so all these chemical components of inorganic pigments cannot warrant the products to be pure organic despite the fact that they could be safe to use.

Mosquito Repellent Citronella Candles

Extra caution has to be adhered when using repellent candles as they are fire hazards, the fumes they give off could be toxic when inhaled and cannot perform in windy atmosphere whereas it ward of mosquitoes from the direction where the candle is burning leaving the back side safe from mosquitoes to attack its target.

Battery-powered diffuser

Blows out the chemical geraniol, ineffective in repelling mosquitoes at the same time it is expensive in terms of refilling and changing new batteries.

An oscillating pedestal fan set

An oscillating pedestal fan set on high worked much better: It cut mosquito landings by 45 to 65 percent, at least among people close to it but the high cost of electricity compound with low level electrification in Uganda.

Sonic Repellents

Ultrasonic devices claim to emit high-frequency sounds that are too high for humans to hear but are just the right frequency to drive pests, including mosquitoes, away. The trouble is, there's no proof that they work. Cost of electricity and technical knowledge could cause a big challenge in most of the developing countries with malaria endemic

Clip-On Fans

Clip-on repellents may seem like a great idea, because they allow you to avoid rubbing chemicals directly onto your skin. But according to CDC wearable foggers "have not been adequately evaluated for their efficacy in preventing vector-borne diseases."

Mosquito Repellent Wristbands

These wearable repellent devices are marketed as being safer, because you don't have to rub anything on your skin but are hardly to find in country like Uganda and lack of product knowledge could be detrimental to its market.

There is strong customer demand for organic products worldwide because of the consumer-driven trend for cleaner and healthier products, that’s could be one of the reasons why Roperfree brand products have risen in demand than other products because they are all natural, pure organic with no traces of chemical components unlike other repellents on the market.

According to the Global leader in specialty plant-based organics, Naturex, tells FoodIngredientsFirst that it “expects its organic demand to continue growing by at least 10% over the next few years”.
